The Parrot Ranch is a bird breeding and educational facility owned and operated by Jody Burgess and his partner Shelly. It is located on two acres of park like grounds set against a backdrop of the Tararua ranges near Levin.
The Parrot Ranch has over 300 birds along with assorted other animals including monkeys, reptiles and fish. It has been built up since 2001 with attention being paid to getting it right rather than just getting it done.
The end result is a facility that rivals the best in New Zealand and includes over 150 aviaries along with incubation and hand rearing facilities.
In line with its role as an educational facility much attention is paid to constantly improving the standards of care for the animals and to this end the best advice and latest research is sought on nutritional, rearing and veterinarian issues.
This web site aims to support this role by providing both information and entertainment for the beginning bird owner and the more advanced aviculturlist with opportunities to comment and question, learn and advise.

The Parrot Ranch has recently opened to the public by appointment only, with tours being conducted by the Parrot Ranch Team, providing much information on the birds and animals visited. It is envisioned that the we will continue to evolve and grow into the future and therefore provide the latest and best information available to avian breeders around the country.
A shop located on the premises is well stocked to meet avian and aquarium needs and a variety of parrots and other birds are available for sale both within New Zealand and for export.
